Pitos Reserve is a new concept, designed to take up a leading role in the winery’s portfolio. The coupage of this well-known Pitos is altered, giving Rubin a leading role with 60% by volume, followed by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The grapes come from vineyards around the village of Belashtitsa (Plovdiv District) and Svirkovo (Harmanli District); the wine ages for 24 months in 65% new, French barrels and a further 12 months in the bottle, meaning it reaches the market ready for consumption. The lead role of the Rubin is with an eye to longer life in the bottle (the winery has estimated the aging potential at 10 – 12 years), while the 17,000 bottle series guarantees that the wine will reach a large enough number of consumers. As one of the few wines on the Bulgarian market with noble development in the bottle, Pitos Reserve maintains its shapely elegance and juiciness, supported by granular tannins.
The colour is dense, a lovely terracotta-garnet red. The nose has noble development with notes of truffles, black olives, leather and European blueberries in brandy. Extractive body with granular tannins - tight, yet juicy and affective. Noble finish with a trace of small dried tomatoes. May continue to age (2019 - 2022). An exceptional wine with its own classic style (92 pts.).
